Night of Champions 2011

Night of Champions fue realizado el 10 de julio de 2011. En el evento todos los campeonatos fueron defendidos.

Contexto[]

Debido a la derrota de Rob Van Dam en Backlash 2011, lucha en la cual estaba en juego la permanencia de la marca ECW, el Campeonato Mundial de ECW siguió activo y defendiéndose en los eventos posteriores. Incluso Kane logró ganar el título en One Night Stand 2011 contra R-Truth. En el mismo evento Rob Van Dam logró capturar el Hardcore Championship al ganar la lucha contra el campeón violento Chevy Van Helsing.

Dos semanas antes de Night of Champions, Rob Van Dam declaró que no podía aceptar que ECW fuera ser destruida por las manos de Mr. McMahon, y lo retó para una lucha de hombre a hombre para defender el honor una última vez...por ECW. El dueño de WWUF (en ese entonces WWGE) se negó a concederle tal lucha pero en cambio le lanzó un último reto: defender el Hardcore Championship ante el campeón de ECW, Kane el 10 de julio en Night of Champions, y a su vez debía competir una segunda vez en la misma noche y luchar otra vez contra Kane pero la lucha sería por el ECW Championship. Mr. McMahon lo retó anunciando que si Van Dam ganaba el título de Kane, el campeonato de ECW seguiría viviendo aun cuando no existiera la marca ECW.
